SENO METHODS

As part of the ACORE team I am currently writing my master thesis under the supervision of Prof. Herbert J. Muthsam.
The thesis is dealing with stability issues when solving the diffusion equation. To increase the stability region a new class of methods, called the Smoothed Essentially Non-Oscillatory (SENO) schemes are introduced. With those it is possible to surpass the original time-stepping restrictions by a factor of up to twenty (compared to classical second order derivatives).

Further details on this new method will be made public around Summer 2011. A release of the original source code written in Fortran is expected as well.
