SENO METHODS

During the academic year 2010/2011 I was part of the ACORE team where I was writing my master thesis under the supervision of Prof. Herbert J. Muthsam.
The thesis is dealing with stability issues when solving the diffusion equation. To increase the stability region a new class of methods, called the Smoothed Essentially Non-Oscillatory (SENO) schemes are introduced. With those it is possible to surpass the original time-stepping restrictions by a factor of up to twenty (compared to classical second order derivatives).
